Razor Clams

Razor Clams have a firm texture, mild brininess and a mild clam flavor. They are usually cut into steaks and served, or diced/ground to use in chowders, fritters, etc. The Pacific Razor Clam is one of the most prized West Coast clams.

Razor Clam Description

Razor Clams have long, narrow, elongated shells between 3″ – 6″ long and are considered a “soft-shell” clam.  The Pacific Razor Clam is larger and has a more rectangular shape than the Atlantic Razor Clam.  Live Razor Clams may be open when at rest but should close rapidly if touched.  If they do not close quickly then do not purchase them.

Range & Habitat

Pacific Razor Clams are found commercially from California to Alaska.  Atlantic Razor Clams are found from South Carolina to Labrador, Canada.
