Takara oysters are farm raised in Willapa Bay, Washington using a tidal basket cultivation method. This is a relatively new cultivation method which uses a stationary horizontal line of suspension baskets which are attached to floats in such a manner that as the tides rise and fall the trays are naturally raised and lowered causing the oysters to be tumbled. Takara oysters have delicate meats with a mild salinity, a sweet cucumber finish, and deep, nicely sculpted shells. They come in sizes ranging from 2″ to 3″ and are available year around.
