Cottage City Oysters are the flagship oyster of Martino’s Seafood, a boutique seafood company on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Cottage City Oysters start in Lagoon Pond, Oak Bluffs inside a Tidal Upweller nursery system until reaching 1″ in size. They are then transferred to the open ocean Vineyard Sound site to finish.
Cottage City Oysters are handled about 100 times throughout their 3-year process to achieve a hard, teardrop shape, deep cup shell with a pearl white interior. They are harvested by hand at the pinnacle for these traits.
They are a handcrafted deepwater, open ocean Martha’s Vineyard oyster. Cottage City oysters have a crisp, clean flavor and a high salinity with hints of mineral and sweetness.
